The group decided that full ACTIVE membership must be open to all Auchterhouse residents over 12 years of age and junior membership for anyone younger.

ACTIVE Update

2008 has been a very exciting year for ACTIVE and the progress towards a tennis court in the village. Problems had arisen over the proposed site after the tenant farmer (not local) reneged on his agreement and asked for a prohibitive sum of compensation. After village consultation and Community Council and Auchterhouse school support we approached  Angus Council to see if they would agree to locating a public tennis court in the village park. They fully supported the venture and have financially contributed towards this via the Community Councils small grants fund. We have had to reapply for planning application and are awaiting this.

Tenders have been received and DOE sport is awaiting the go-ahead from the planners’ office. Hopefully 2008/09 will see this fully functional.

There is a wine tasting and auction of promises to be held on Friday 14th November in Auchterhouse village hall for ACTIVE funds -

Wine Tasting Report

Following the very successful wine tasting and auction of promises in the hall on Friday 14th Nov, the ACTIVE committee and our local wine connoisseur, Jo Williamson would like to thank all those who helped to make the evening such a success. Through ticket sales, donations from those who couldn’t make it, auction lots and the orders of wine taken on the night, ACTIVE made £1300.

The auction alone made around £600 with lots being sold such as a trailer load of manure, a colour analysis and image consultancy, 4 hours chauffeur driven in a vintage car with picnic, 2 hours computer graphics tuition, a canoe trip down the River Isla and more.

Thank you to those who put up the auction lots and a bigger thank you to those who bid and bought.

This means that we now have sufficient funds to go ahead with the construction of the tennis court. There will be an AGM before the end of the year (date to be confirmed), with an effort to carry out construction work in the early spring.

From the ACTIVE committee – Ruth and Graham Leese, Maggie McMahon, Judy Goodfellow
