from John Brush
The map leaflet produced by Sidlaw Path Network Steering Group (of which I am chairman) is accessible on the following internet address:
http://www.angus.gov.uk/atoz/pdfs/Sidlawpathnetworkleaflet.pdf
Alternatively a hard copy of the leaflet can be obtained from Gillian Zealand, (Secretary SPNSG) and her phone number is 01382-581152.
It has to be admitted that, so far, the paths barely touch the Auchterhouse area but nevertheless we are working on this and the next issue will change that. Still, I think it's likely that the paths described on the existing leaflet will be of interest to Auchterhouse readers.

Dr John Brush's Weather Service
Many in the area may have enjoyed John’s weather station web site, and like us check out our unpredictable Scottish weather. However, when our property suffered damage from the voluminous rain this summer, it was only thanks to our local weather station that we were able prove to our insurers the amount of rain that had actually fallen. Had there been no Auchterhouse weather station, we would have been struggling and might have had to cover ourselves when our insurers insisted that we had had no significant rain fall basing their argument on rainfall figures from the nearest Met station at Leuchars !!!!
As the station has been up and running for over 15 years now, some equipment is requiring replacement, others of you may be glad that John keeps it running so how about some contributions?
A big thank you from us John Jennifer and Grant (The Gables)
