red bullet Cheese and Wine – Tutored Tasting Session - Friday 9th March 2012

Cancelled

Unfortunately, I have had to cancel the planned Tutored Wine Tasting evening this week. We had insufficient tickets sold for the event. I would like to thank Mr. Bell for all of the work he put in to prepare for this event and I certainly hope to call upon his services in future should a similar event be planned within the community.

Regards,

Peter D. Ferguson

One of our parents – Mr. Bell, has kindly agreed to host a Tutored Wine Tasting evening in the hall, with proceeds divided between school funds and a selected charity. During the evening, Mr. Bell will teach the audience about the finer points of good wine – and which cheeses go best with each. Participants will, of course, have the opportunity to sample these cheeses and wines for themselves. This promises to be an educational, informative and very social occasion.

The cost of the ticket will be £7.00 per person. During the evening it will be possible to place orders for your favourite wines. In order to ensure that we have ample supplies of wine and cheese, I would ask you to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets will be available until Monday 5th March and can be purchased at the school office. Final numbers do need to be in by 5th March in order to allow for ordering.

I encourage you to come along to this Tutored Tasting evening and feel free to invite family and friends. It will certainly bring some cheer as we emerge from Winter.

Kind regards,

Peter

red bullet Auchterhouse Jubilee Memory Capsule

The Diamond Jubilee celebrates sixty years of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as Head of the Commonwealth. Many things have happened over the last six decades and here is your chance to tell us your stories about them.

We are looking for you to write a short story marking one specific date from the 6th February 1952 up to present day. That’s over 21, 000 days to choose from! Some possible examples may be:

  • Watching the Coronation
  • Viewing the first moon landing
  • Seeing the Berlin Wall come down
  • Significant births etc. etc.

It can be a personal memory and does not need to be related to Her Majesty the Queen. Once you have written about one memorable date in your lifetime we will create a historical community memory capsule.

You may wish to use a computer to write your stories and hand written work will be equally acceptable. Please use A5 paper so that we can easily bind the history together. You may use as many pieces of paper as your story requires but please number each page and include your name. Photographs or drawings may be an interesting addition if appropriate. Unfortunately, are unable to return them so please do not use originals.

The children of Auchterhouse Primary School are looking forward to this special event and hope that you can take the opportunity to tell us about one day in your lifetime.

All completed stories should be sent to Auchterhouse Primary School no later than Tuesday 1st March. If sending an electronic copy, we are able to read Word 2003 or Publisher files only to:
